The Block Panchayat constitutes the second, or intermediate, tier of the Three-tier Panchayati Raj system in India. It is formed by the integration of several Gram Panchayats and serves as a vital institutional link between the Gram Panchayats at the grassroots level and the District Panchayat at the district level.At present, there are 152 Block Panchayats in Kerala.
